SUMMARY 

Directs the planning through to completion of new engineering projects, as well as ongoing support, engineering project within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties.

Project Engineering:

*Begins project with Estimating Launch, follows through to customer and internal approvals, which involves some amount of validation (e.g., PPAP, IQ-OQ-PQ, etc.). 

*Interprets customer information, including product specifications, engineering drawings, etc.

*Accepts responsibility for planning budget and monitors that delivery dates will be met.

*Serves as customer engineering representative through the project duration, coordinating internal communications.

*Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design 

and test problems.

*Helps in determining root cause of problems with molds; coordinates corrective and preventive actions with Process

Engineering and Tool Shop.

*Coordinates with Engineering Sales, changes made to tools and obtains authorization for those changes.

*Informs customers of changes affecting timing and costs.

*Evaluates and approves quality control plans.

 *Provides innovation and leadership to improve engineering - technology functions.

*Reviews Q.A. inspections reports.

*Occasionally required to assist other departments (Processing, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality

Assurance, Tool Shop, etc.).

*Travels as required.

*Entertains customers as required.

*Evaluates potential suppliers as required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Employee regularly uses hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Requirements

 

SKILLS:

Four year college or university program certificate; related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have familiarity with design operating systems. Must be familiar with plastic injection molding and mold design.

Able to interpret engineering drawings. Some 2D and 3D CAD proficiency expected.

Ability to interpret general business periodicals, corporate procedures, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence that is comprehensive and high quality. 

Ability to communicate with internal and external customers as well as suppliers in a clear and concise manner.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of planes, solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Must have proficient computer skills with spreadsheets and word processing capabilities. Should have knowledge 

of ERP systems.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
