A. Overview
The School Liaison will be part of the FCRC team working with families experiencing a range of issues that impact their home and family life. The School Liaison serves as a resource to families, schools, and the community in improving overall student attendance and graduation rates, reducing truancy rates, identifying systemic issues, barriers, trends and needs, networking and disseminating information, designing solutions and expanding system capacity.
B. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that all family members experiencing “Child Requiring Assistance” (CRA)-related issues are connected to services that meet their individual needs.
- Meet with teachers, school administrators, and personnel as necessary to aid students who are experiencing attendance, truancy, behavior issues, as well as supporting families with obtaining specialized education services such as an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
- Work in conjunction with the FCRC Clinician and Family Partner to complete the CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) Assessment to develop a Family Support Plan for family members experiencing CRA-related issues.
- Co-Facilitate evidence-based parent education and support groups as well as other FCRC events and activities.
- Support with the outreach and recruitment efforts of new families.
- Work with all family members who are involved with the FCRC with prioritization for families experiencing School and/or CRA-related issues.
- Link family with appropriate services in the community, advocating for families when necessary.
- Provide Spanish/English verbal and written translation services between FCRC/FSMV employees and/or collateral contacts and families as needed.
- Administer, collect, and enter all required data collection information into a Customer Relationship Management database system.
- Serve as a resource to families, schools and the community in improving overall student attendance and graduation rates, reducing truancy rates, identifying systemic issues, barriers, trends and needs.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 2+ years’ experience working in the field of education, in school or community-based settings.
- Verbal and written fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products as well as in data entry.
- Must be able to facilitate implementation of evidence-based parenting education curricula and support groups.
- Must be able to work 2 evenings per week and 1 Saturday a month.
- Demonstrate cultural competence with an ability to work with diverse populations, within the community as well as with agency staff members.
- Ideally, the candidate will also have experience working with at-risk youth and families and reflect the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the target population.
- Access to reliable transportation to conduct agency business. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and appropriate automobile insurance coverage.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- This is a 40 hour per week, non-exempt, benefited position with a pay range of $22-$23 per hour, commensurate upon experience.
