The Pickleball instructor at the YMCA of Central Massachusetts creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe conditions in the gym, studios, and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Coordination:
- Develop and implement pickleball programs, leagues, clinics, and special events in accordance with the YMCA’s goals and objectives.
- Coordinate court beginner open play Mondays from 8pm-10pm, including equipment, flow of gameplay, ensuring all have a positive experience regardless of skill level.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play among participants during open play
- Collaborate with other staff members and volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of the pickleball program.
Participant Engagement:
- Recruit and retain participants for pickleball programs through outreach efforts, marketing initiatives, and community partnerships.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment where participants feel welcome and valued.
- Respond to inquiries, feedback, and concerns from participants and their families in a timely and professional manner.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines, rules, and regulations related to pickleball facilities and equipment.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols during pickleball activities and events.
- Address any safety concerns or emergencies promptly and appropriately.
Professional Development:
- Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and developments in the field of pickleball.
- Participate in training opportunities, workshops, and professional development activities to enhance coaching skills and knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current Red Cross First Aid and Adult CPR/AED certification
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Job Type: Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
Schedule: Monday nights from 8:00pm-10:00pm
Pay: $15.00/hr Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA Employees, Employee Assistance Program and Sick Leave.
