Description

Make an impact. Join our growing outpatient clinics, focused on improving the wellbeing of families. We are seeking a mission driven and dedicated Medical Assistant to work with patients of our health center serving the communities in the High Desert of San Bernardino County in our mobile clinic.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Improve patient outcomes by outreaching to our patients and their families to get them to return to our office for needed preventative care services such as immunizations and well-child-check appointments.
  • Willingness to work as part of a collaborative team that includes social workers, physicians, nurse practitioners, and case managers.
  • St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers utilizes EPIC for our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Willing to drive and provide Medical Assisting support to providers on a mobile medical clinic.
  • Must be willing to work at multiple locations within San Bernardino County, Apple Valley, Adelanto and Hesperia plus mobile clinic sites. 
  • Comfortable working in a mobile unit setting.
  • 20 hours per week (Two 8-hours shifts and one 4-hour shift).
  • This is a grant funded position through December 31st, 2027, with the possibility of an extension

Essential Functions (What You Do).

  • Assist medical providers in providing high quality, efficient and service-oriented patient care.
  • Contact patients via telephone to schedule return visits for needed preventative care, provide families with relevant health information, enter and track data related to preventative care completion.
  • Provide English/Spanish translation for medical providers and patients.
  • Confirm patient's satisfaction with communication and care. Clearly and efficiently document all patient interactions within the medical record.   
  • Screens patients for HIV Risks and HIV.
  • Assists with patient registration, referrals, scheduling, and exam room turnover.
  • Upholds all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and other regulatory compliance and safety requirements. Remain current on all credentialing requirements.
  • Drive the mobile medical clinic as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:


Pay Range: $23.00 - $27.16 per hour

Requirements

Education:

  • Must have a certificate of completion from an accredited school of training for medical assisting.

License/ Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA approved program.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6-months of experience as a Medical Assistant or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • Community Clinic experience
  • Pediatric and/or Women's health experience or a strong desire to serve this demographic
  • Experience with Epic EMR
  • Experience driving a mobile clinic or RV

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrates the ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish without an
  • interpreter.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal/cultural sensitivity and work with a diverse and often
  • underserved population.
  • Effective written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization
  • and with vendors.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills, being able to perform
  • simultaneous tasks, prioritize them effectively and follow through quickly.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems.
  • Willingness to learn to drive mobile clinic vehicle. 
Salary Description
$22.00 - $26.16 per hour
