Description

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for overnight Outreach Worker(s) for Atlantic City. Under the direction of the Regional Coordinator, the Outreach Worker will be responsible for finding and identifying unsheltered homeless individuals through direct street outreach activities. The Outreach Worker builds relationships with people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, providing advocacy, and assisting with connecting individuals to services and housing. The focus of this work is to connect clients with resources and services to assist them in stabilizing their homeless, mental health and primary health situations. 90% of time will be spent out in the community engaging unhoused individuals.

  1. Tuesday - Saturday | 12:00am - 8:30am

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Conduct regular proactive outreach in designated areas throughout the County, including streets, encampments, transit hubs, and other community locations, to engage individuals experiencing homelessness and connect them with appropriate services and resources.
  • Identify and discuss barriers that may prevent individuals from participating in community programs and services, including transportation, documentation, behavioral health needs, disability, language, technology access, or other challenges. 
  • Facilitate referrals to the CES to ensure individuals experiencing homelessness are assessed for housing resources including housing vouchers and other housing opportunities. 
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Housing First philosophy, harm reduction principles, and the delivery of low-barrier, client centered services.

Full-time | Benefit Eligible (Medical, free DMO dental & free vision) including 6 weeks PTO & 11 Holidays

Requirements
  • MUST have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • MUST have a valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Experience providing peer support.
  • Knowledge of HMIS software a plus!
  • Ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness and high levels of vulnerability, including those living with mental health disabilities, substance use disorders, and prior justice system involvement.”
  • Knowledge of transitional and permanent supportive housing.
  • Willingness to share lived experience, including current or past use of mental health or addiction services, experiences with homelessness, and elements of one’s personal recovery journey
  • Proficient in MS Office products, as well as general computer literacy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and relate to a diverse population in a multicultural environment.
  • Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus!

Salary Description
Hourly Rate: $26.44
