Disabilities and Mental Health Coordinator

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and collaborative Disabilities and Mental Health Coordinator to support the social-emotional development, mental wellness, and inclusion of children and families enrolled in our Head Start and Early Head Start programs. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that children receive the services and supports they need to thrive. The successful candidate will work closely with families, staff, community partners, and service providers to coordinate disabilities and mental health services while ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other applicable regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate disabilities and mental health services in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable regulations.
  • Ensure timely screenings, referrals, evaluations, and follow-up services for children with developmental, behavioral, or mental health needs.
  •  Support the implementation of IFSPs, IEPs, behavior support plans, and inclusive classroom practices.
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to staff on child development, social-emotional wellness, inclusion, and behavior management.
  • Conduct classroom observations and collaborate with staff to address developmental and behavioral concerns.
  • Partner with families, community agencies, and service providers to coordinate supports and services.
  • Monitor program compliance, maintain accurate records, analyze data, and prepare required reports.
  • Participate in program planning, continuous quality improvement, and interdisciplinary team meetings.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a related field required.

· Master's degree preferred.

· One to three years of experience working with young children and families in early childhood or human services settings.

· Knowledge of child development, disabilities services, mental health practices, and trauma-informed care.

· Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and IDEA preferred.

· Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Classification/Hours

Non-Exempt, Full-time 37.5 hours per week, $27.18 hourly, with the potential for increase based on performance.
