Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music—a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

Departmental Overview: Red Onion is a Grab-n-Go quick service restaurant that is in the lobby area of the Country Music Hall of Fame. This position reports to the Restaurant and Banquet Manager (Restaurant Manager). Hours of Operation are 9am-5pm every day.

Position Overview: It will be the cashier’s responsibility to create a positive guest experience and maintain the Red Onion in a clean and orderly fashion, while adhering to applicable codes and guidelines. The Red Onion Cashier will be an employee who is paid an hourly wage in addition to receiving tips from customers at the bar.

Specific Job Duties: 

  • Communicate daily food/beverage specials to the guests consistently.
  • Look for an opportunity to make recommendations and upsell the products.
  • Increase guest satisfaction and average revenue per check
  • Provide bar patrons with excellent experience by using exemplary customer service skills. 
  • Possesses the ability to operate a register and be responsible for balancing the drawer, proper cash handling, and daily deposits. 
  • Adhere to company Opening/Closing procedures. Report to work in a timely fashion, dressing neatly and in company uniform. 
  • Help to maintain standards of health code, as well as always maintain bar and dining room appearance.
  • Complete tasks as delegated by Management staff.
Requirements

 Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Flexible availability to accommodate opening/closing shifts as well as weekends and holidays.
  • Strong communication skills a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry a plus, but we are willing to train the candidate with the right attitude and desires.
  • Current ABC license, in the State of Tennessee is required.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Potential to lead to Fulltime later.
  • Shifts vary, but typically from 8am-6pm
