Description

 

Production Castings is seeking a detail-oriented Inspector / Layout Technician CMM to support our Quality Department by performing dimensional inspections, complete part layouts, and measurement analysis on production and prototype components. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our products meet customer specifications and quality standards.


What You'll Do

  • Program, operate, and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
  • Perform first article, in-process, final, and PPAP inspections
  • Conduct complete dimensional layouts on new and revised components
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, specifications, and customer standards
  • Create and maintain inspection reports and dimensional data records
  • Analyze measurement results and communicate quality concerns and nonconformances
  • Calibrate and verify inspection equipment as required
  • Support Quality, Engineering, and Production teams with measurement-related issues
  • Maintain quality records in accordance with company and customer requirements
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and inspection processes

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical training in quality, machining, manufacturing, or metrology preferred
  • Experience operating CMM equipment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments including:
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Height gages
    • Bore gages
    • Optical comparators
    • Other inspection equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Requirements


Preferred Qualifications

  • First Article Inspection (FAI) experience
  • PPAP submission experience
  • Manufacturing, machining, or die casting experience
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge
  • Fixture design and inspection planning experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to handle, inspect, and measure production components regularly
  • Visual acuity necessary to perform detailed inspections and measurements
