MD&A – The IGT Division is seeking both entry-level and more experienced machinists (Blenders) who can specialize in bucket/blader precision turbine machining. In this position, you must be able to work in a non-climate environment and have excellent attention to detail.  

  

Bucket / Blader Specialized Machinists perform setups and adjustments, and operate shop and portable machine tools to repair the turbine's rotating steam path and internal gas and fuel components. Performs structural material removal and polishing of damaged or compromised areas to restore component integrity. All candidates must be well-versed in all industry housekeeping, safety, and good manufacturing practices (GMP) initiatives. More experienced candidates may be considered to lead and direct others' work.

Essential Functions & Requirements:   

Experience:

o I – no experience required

o II – minimum 2 years’ experience

o III – minimum 5 years’ experience

· Use pneumatic, electric, and hand tools to blend defects and welded areas and restore areas back to original contours on various Gas Turbines

· Maintains and completes all documentation (forms) associated with work assignments according to established procedures. 

· Performs alloy metals blending for highly engineered Turbine parts and products. 

· Install and machine GE tangential entry and axial entry buckets/blades (all levels)

· Install and machine Westinghouse T root buckets/blades (all levels)

· Erosion shield and brazing techniques (levels II, III)

· Install and machine GE finger dovetails (levels II, III)

· Install and machine Westinghouse axial dovetails (levels II, III)

· Install and machine all manufacture-type blades (levels II, III)

· Tie wire brazes of buckets (levels II, III)

· Tenon grinding (levels II, III)

· Evaluate the bucket condition at the job site to establish the required repairs (levels II, III)

· Explain and discuss needed repairs, schedules, and man loading with customers (levels II, III)

· Ability to follow detailed work instructions and procedures in accordance with parts specifications, while following all established safety protocols.

· Function as a cross-functional team member and demonstrate gas turbine blending process skills and knowledge 

· Perform any related tasks assigned by management. 


Requirements:   

  • High School Diploma or GED (all levels)
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime when required. 
  • Adhere to all established Safety and housekeeping policies. 
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, basic geometry, and their applications.


Preferred Experience: 

  • Original manufacturing methods and standards; basic knowledge of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, punch presses, etc. (all levels)
  • Familiar with NDE techniques such as dye penetrants and mag particles (all levels)
  • Knowledge and ability to use both hand and power tools associated with grinding, deburring, and metal forming (all levels)
  • Knowledge and ability to use common precision measuring instruments and hand tools such as tape measure, level, square,     file or rasp, etc. (all levels)
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow company repair procedures and directions (all levels)
  • Strong customer service experience in explaining and discussing needed repairs and being able to determine scheduling time frames (levels II, III)
  • Ability to lead other bucket bladers and supervise work being performed at the customer site (levels II, III)
Salary Description
$20.00 - $26.00 Hr. (DOE)
