Description
The Plumbing/HVAC Helper assists licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and installers with the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of plumbing and HVAC systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This entry-level position provides hands-on experience while supporting field crews in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality service to customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist plumbers and HVAC technicians with installations, repairs, and maintenance projects.
- Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
- Load, unload, and organize materials and supplies.
- Help install piping, ductwork, fixtures, equipment, and related components.
- Assist with troubleshooting plumbing and HVAC system issues.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, changing filters, flushing lines, and cleaning work areas.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Accurately complete assigned tasks and communicate progress to supervisors.
- Provide excellent customer service while representing the company professionally.
- Attend training sessions and participate in ongoing skills development.
Requirements
Required
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- At least 1 year of previous plumbing and or HVAC experience.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and dependability.
Preferred
- Familiarity with hand and power tools.
- OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain).

- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
