The Belfast Community Co-op is looking for a Grocery Assistant Manager to be a part of our leadership team! The Grocery Assistant Manager assists in all aspects of Grocery Department operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising department staff. Under the direction of the Grocery Manager, the Grocery Assistant Manager is responsible for day-to-day department functions, ensuring a fully staffed and fully stocked department.

This is a full-time position (30+ hours weekly) requiring variable availability depending on store needs with a starting wage of $22.00 per hour.
This position provides support and leadership to both the purchasing and stocking aspects of operations in meeting sales and labor goals, developing and implementing systems, and providing initial and ongoing staff training.
Essential Functions
- Schedule department staff for optimal coverage to meet sales and labor goals set by the Grocery Manager
- Oversee department workflows
- Assist Grocery Manager in developing, implementing, and sustaining training plan
- Act as a part of the Grocery team to keep the department clean, organized, and well stocked

- Maintain an awareness of Belfast Community Co-op as an entire organization and collaborates with others on how individual changes/operations within a department can affect the rest of the organization
- Model exceptional customer service to internal & external customers, both in person & via phone.
- Assist in the creation and development of departmental targets.
- Maintain working knowledge of reports and metrics
- Relay information to and from the Leadership Team concerning operations. Ensures use of departmental communication tools to communicate other topics staff need to know in accordance with Belfast Community Co-op’s Communications SOP
- Ensure the smooth operation of department functions
- Uphold Belfast Community Co-op’s Leadership Qualities, Code of Conduct, Expectations of Staff, and Values
- Act as all store leadership - Provide leadership and direction during busy times and in the absence of department managers. Respond promptly and professionally to concerns, complaints, and requests

QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
Preferred:
- Experience in a warehouse/stocking environment
- Experience working with ECRS Catapult
- Experience with staff management
- Strong computer skills
Minimum:
- Ability to to communicate effectively in a high-volume work environment
- Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and powerjack
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication)
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks
