Description
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for financial statement preparation, financial reporting and analysis, statistical reporting and analysis, and budgeting. Additional job responsibilities include bank and accounts payable reconciliations. All these duties will be completed while working in accordance with the Heartland Health Services (HHS) mission, strategic goals, federal and state laws and regulations, performance and outcome objectives, and accreditation standards.
Essential Functions
- Creates, and analyzes financial statements in Sage Intelligence and prepares monthly financial statements for Finance Committee and Board of Director meetings.
- Creates, reviews, and distributes monthly financial reports to all department managers.
- Creates, reviews, and distributes monthly statistical reports to all department managers.
- Develops and assists in administering annual operating and capital budgeting process.
- Performs project work and value-added analyses to improve company efficiencies and use of resources.
- Monitors and reconciles all bank accounts, payable accounts, and various other general ledger accounts monthly.
- Engages with the annual audit by assuring that required schedules, reports and documentation are readily available and provided to the auditors.
- Prepares and files 1099-Misc & 1096, annually.
- Performs monthly cash drawer reconciliation at all clinical sites.
- Performs internal auditing, as necessary.
- Assists Accounting Department with keeping accurate documentation and records as required.
- Supports clinic compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and HHS rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing the clinical provision of medical services as well as those relating to, but not limited to, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality.
- Supports and is involved in HHS’s continuous quality improvement efforts designed to improve patient outcomes.
- Works in consultation with clinical teams, direct clinical support staff, and indirect clinical support staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that maximize patient-centered communication and services.
- Maintains and assures confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HHS’s policies.
- Reports building/equipment problems through the appropriate channels.
- Performs any clerical duty or department related task as assigned by supervisor in a continuously changing medical practice.
- Attends all staff meetings, department meetings, and any other meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and utilize critical thinking skills to make sound financial decisions or present potential solutions to the management team.
- Must possess collaboration and customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, primarily EXCEL and WORD, as well as experience with an accounting software package.
- Sage Intelligence experience preferred.
Salary Description
$52,000-$70,000 per year
