Personal Care Aide
Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, oral care, and dressing.
  • Assist with toileting, incontinence care, and maintaining personal cleanliness.
  • Assist with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and mobility.
  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Perform light housekeeping related to client care, including laundry, changing linens, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Remind clients to take medications as directed (no medication administration unless authorized by state regulations).
  • Observe and report changes in the client's condition, behavior, or home environment to the supervising nurse.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Utilize Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) and agency documentation systems as required.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and conduct at all times.

Qualifications

  • PCA Certificate, CNA License, Nursing Student status, or other qualifications meeting Virginia DMAS requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous caregiving experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and assisting clients with mobility.
  • Ability to work in various home environments.
  • Ability to travel to client homes throughout assigned service areas.

Work Schedule

  • Full-Time, Part-Time, PRN, and Weekend opportunities available.
  • Flexible scheduling based on client needs and employee availability.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license or reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and any required screenings.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.
  • Current TB screening and physical examination as required.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
