Description

The Vice President of Market Access will lead the strategy and execution needed to secure broad, sustainable access to the company’s innovative therapies. Reporting to the EVP, Corporate Operations, this leader will bring deep expertise in market access, payer strategy, and reimbursement to advance both current products and future launches. The role is responsible for developing and implementing market access initiatives that help ensure patients can obtain the treatments they need while supporting commercial growth and organizational scale. 

In addition, this position will lead and develop a high-performing access organization, overseeing the payer, oncology GPO, and trade functions while balancing long-term strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership. National Account Directors will report to the Vice President of Market Access.  

Requirements

Responsibilities (including but not limited to): 

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive market access strategy for Catalyst's lead assets —Firdapse and aGamree — with a focus on rare and genetic diseases with critical unmet needs 
  • Integrate market access considerations into product development plans, regulatory submissions, and commercialization strategies in close partnership with Commercial, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Medical Affairs 
  • Monitor the payer access environment, identify emerging trends and risks, and develop innovative, forward-thinking access solutions 
  • Collaborate with HEOR colleagues to shape health economics and real-world evidence strategies that strengthen the value story

Pricing, Reimbursement & Contracting 

  • Develop and execute pricing, reimbursement, and contracting strategies grounded in rigorous market assessments, pricing analogs, and competitive analytics 
  • Lead pricing and reimbursement negotiations with payers to ensure optimal access and reimbursement outcomes 
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop compelling value propositions that resonate with payers, and collaborate with Marketing to build supporting tactics and resources 

Payer & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Directly engage with payers, CMS, GPOs, large oncology practice groups, and PBMs — building and sustaining strong, trust-based relationships 
  • Serve as Catalyst's senior external voice on market access, representing the company with credibility and conviction 

Trade & Distribution 

  • Develop and oversee the Trade and Distribution strategy, managing day-to-day relationships with wholesalers, distributors, and pharmacies 
  • Work closely with patient support programs, including hub services and patient assistance programs, to ensure seamless access from coverage to dispensing 

Vendor Management 

  • Manage Key Access Vendors 

 

Education/Experience/Skills:  

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field; MBA strongly preferred  
  • 15+ years of market access experience in pharmaceutical or biotech, with a focus on rare disease  
  • Proven history of developing and executing successful market access strategies for specialty and rare disease therapies  
  • Deep expertise in the payer landscape, reimbursement processes, and pricing strategy  
  • Substantial experience shaping HEOR and real-world evidence strategies  
  • In-depth knowledge of specialty pharmacy, patient services, limited distribution networks, reimbursement hubs, co-pay programs, and patient assistance programs  
  • Demonstrated success negotiating and managing contracts with payers and external partners  
  • Strong relationships with key payers, GPOs, and market access stakeholders  
  • Solid understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and compliance  
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and people skills — with the ability to influence across functions and at the executive level  
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities

 Travel  

This role requires approximately 50% domestic travel

The base salary for this position will range from $330,000 to $360,000. Candidate experience, professional licensing, and geographic location will be taken into consideration.
