Description
Role Description: Operation of crane to input raw materials for production. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toed shoes. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-on production line operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
- Operate control panels for raw material preparation.
- Operate electric and/or propane forklift truck.
- Operate raw materials monorail for aggregate and powder storage.
- Follow production recipe to ensure correct raw material quantities.
- Responsible for detailed cleaning of all required equipment during product color changes.
- Communicate with other Operators, Assistant Shift Leaders and Shift Leader.
- Ensure a clean and safe work area.
- Complete shift paper work.
- Assist in production as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
- Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic mixing/batching processes, procedures, and machinery (ex. weighing units, transfer systems, mixing vessels) preferred. This is normally acquired through two to three years of mixing/batching process experience.
- Ability to identify quality and/or production deficiencies and resolve quickly.
- Experience in the safe storage and handling of chemicals.
Physical Demands:
- May encounter the following chemicals:
- Acetone
- UPE resin
- Styrene
- Silica dust
- Peroxide
- Cobalt
- Silane
- Powdered pigments
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
- Ability to remain on your feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to climb stair repeatedly for long periods of time
- Ability to work overtime hours as needed with little or no notification.
