JOB SUMMARY (Two/Three Lines):

• The Director of Content is responsible for the daily quality, direction, and output of an integrated content team spanning journalism, community engagement, newsletters, and multimedia production. 

• The Director leads execution of LVPM's content tentpole programming, works closely with the VP of Content to translate strategy into daily editorial practice, and builds a team culture grounded in strong journalism, community connection, and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Tasks):

• Serve as a day-to-day editor for a team of multimedia journalists, editing copy for accuracy, clarity, fairness, and editorial quality across all platforms.

• Uphold editorial standards for all content produced by the content team, ensuring consistency and public trust in LVPM's work.

• Run daily and weekly editorial planning meetings, coordinating story assignments, platform distribution, and content calendars.

• Edit and oversee the editorial production of LVPM's newsletters, including packaging, sequencing, voice, and on-time delivery.

• Produce original reporting, features, and content across formats.

• Assist in planning and execution of LVPM’s content tentpoles in coordination with the VP of Content and other stakeholders.

• Provide consistent, constructive editorial feedback that improves teams' skills and raises the quality of their work over time.

• Works with the Community Engagement Lead to ensure community voices and correspondent content are integrated into the daily editorial workflow.

• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

o Knowledge of the Lehigh Valley's communities, institutions, and civic landscape

EXPERIENCE: (Work experience, degree attainment, professional certifications)

o At least seven (7) years of professional journalism experience, with a clear record of both reporting and editing.

o Demonstrated experience leading an editorial team or newsroom function, including coverage planning, staff editing, and editorial standards.

o Experience planning and executing community-facing editorial programming.

o Experience working in a digital-first or integrated multi-platform newsroom.

o Newsletter editing or production experience strongly preferred.

o Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS: 

· May be asked to work longer hours and occasional weekends, particularly around tentpole events, major community programming, and significant coverage moments.

· As you will/may be driving a company vehicle or your own vehicle on a regular basis, a valid driver's license and a good driving record as determined by a driver's license background check is required for this position.

· All team members must successfully pass a background check (7 years), FBI fingerprint clearance and PA child clearance.
