The Planning Advisor at Great Waters Financial serves as a key liaison between new clients, existing clients, and our client-facing advising team. This role is responsible for gathering client data, building customized financial plans, and delivering recommendations that align with each client’s individual risk tolerance and defined goals. The Planning Advisor helps clients achieve their investment objectives while maintaining a deep understanding of each client’s financial situation, risk profile, and tax exposure. With strong analytical skills and a passion for the financial world, the Planning Advisor plays an essential role in supporting both our clients and our advising team.
Responsibilities
Financial Plan Development:
- Build and maintain comprehensive financial plans for prospects and clients, tailored to each individual’s goals, risk tolerance, and tax exposure that reflect current firm standards.
- Input and maintain accurate client data within software systems, including Moneyguide and Salesforce.
Client Meeting Preparation:
- Facilitate all aspects of client meeting preparation, including Strategy Session prep and coordination with advisors.
- Prepare client-facing advisor meeting agendas that are organized, thorough, and aligned to each client’s financial plan.
- Complete all assigned tasks within appropriate software platforms in advance of scheduled meetings.
Client Recommendations:
- Provide ongoing financial recommendations that address client needs, answer questions, and support the advising team in delivering a high-quality client experience.
- Review each client’s and prospect’s financial situation to identify appropriate products and strategies across Investment Advisory, Brokerage, Annuities, and Insurance.
- Identify and implement new or evolving planning opportunities based on industry trends, regulatory changes, and updated financial products.
Industry Knowledge:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations, financial planning practices, and product offerings relevant to the firm’s full service suite.
- Stay informed on industry trends and proactively bring relevant insights to the advising team.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Series 65 or CFP
- Health & Life Insurance License
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with technology systems and platforms, including MoneyGuide and Salesforce

Pay Transparency Statement
The salary range for this role is $62,000-$80,000 annually. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and organizational performance. Great Waters offers a comprehensive benefits package, details of which are outlined above.
