Description

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The purpose of this position is to ensure the precise and efficient machining of components that support the company’s mission of delivering world-class aerospace structures.  

The Machinist applies technical expertise to program, set-up, and operate CNC and manual machines to produce high tolerance components that meet design and performance specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Programming and Setup 
  • Create, load, and modify CNC programs for precision machining operations 
  • Setup tooling, fixtures, and equipment according to production requirements.  
  • Verify part programs for accuracy and efficiency before production.  
  • Master CAM or any CAM experience preferred 
  • Machining and Production Support  
  • Operate CNC and manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) to produce components to specification. 
  • Perform tool changes, machine offsets and process adjustment as necessary.  
  • Support production teams by machining tooling and fixtures. 
  • Assist in repair or modification of equipment as assigned.  
  • Fanuc, HAAS, Mazak machine experience
  • Quality and Continuous Improvement  
  • Inspect machined parts for dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments.  
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to increase throughput and reduce scrap or rework.  
  • Participate I lean initiatives, quality reviews, and performance audits.  
  • Maintenance and Safety 
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on assigned machines.  
  • Report any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or hazards immediately.  
  • Follow all lockout/tagout and PPE protocols. 
  • Collaboration and Communication 
  • Coordinate workloads with team members to meet production targets.  
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and peers to resolve technical or process issues.  
  • Provide mentorship or guidance to less experienced machinists as directed.  

 

SKILLS • EXPERIENCE • EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Vocational training or certification in machining, CNC operations, or manufacturing technology preferred.  
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in machining, aerospace, or precision manufacturing.  
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered by management.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CNC programming and operation, with experience in Fanuc or Haas controls preferred.  
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, CAD/CAM data and blueprints. 
  • Knowledge of machine safety, Lean principles, and quality control systems.  
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot tooling and machining challenges independently.  
  • Welding experience (gas and electric) preferred.

  • Reports Directly to Machine Shop Manager.

  • May provide lead direction or training to other machinists or support staff as assigned.
