Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, weight, and medical history.
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries.
- Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider.
- Perform basic laboratory testing and phlebotomy.
- Collect, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
- Maintain examination rooms, medical supplies, and clinical equipment.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date patient records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Document patient information, provider notes, and clinical updates in the EHR accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage and coordinate provider schedules to support efficient clinic workflow and timely patient care.
- Conduct patient follow-up regarding care plans, test results, referrals, medications, and provider instructions.
- Process referrals and coordinate with specialty providers to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Assist with obtaining prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and diagnostic testing as required.
- Monitor and respond to patient messages through the EHR system and patient portal.
- Prepare patient charts by ensuring all required documentation, laboratory results, imaging, and reports are available for provider review prior to appointments.
- Maintain organized electronic patient records by scanning, uploading, and filing medical documents within the EHR system.
- Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, pharmacies, laboratories, and external healthcare facilities to coordinate patient care.
- Ensure all patient information and documentation are handled in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, CCMA, etc.)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or required
- Previous clinical experience preferred but not mandatory

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR)
Requirements
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant Experience: At least 1 year
- Vital Signs Experience: At least 1 year
- EMR Systems Experience: At least 1 year
- High school diploma
- Medical Assisting diploma depending on state requirements
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
