The ISO Depot Operator is responsible for the safe handling, movement, inspection, light repair and storage of ISO Tank Containers. This position supports the ISO Tank Depot and ISO Transportation by operating the Yard Truck (Yard Hustler), In Gate and Out Gate tank inspections, photos and documentation, performing Pressure Tests and preparing tanks for loading, light repairs, installing steam lines and monitoring the ISO tanks on a steam heating pad. The ISO Depot Operator will follow safety procedures and ensure accurate data entry for Depot Systems 5 (DS5). The ISO Depot Operator plays a critical role in maintaining tank inventory integrity, meeting shipping/receiving timelines, and supporting a safe work environment.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Material Handling & Yard Truck Operations
- Inspect all ISO Tanks for visible damage or leak during In-gating and Out-gating inspections. Document and report non-conformances using the ISO Tank Interchange In-gating and Out-gating process.
- Accurately record mounted inventory during required daily ISO Depot yard checks.
- Precheck, operate and monitor the Apache 2-Pass Dryback Firetube Boiler and ISO Tank steam heating pad.
- Install steam lines and accurately monitor by reading Heating Instructions and record product temperatures on tanks being heated.
- Safely operate yard truck (yard hustler) to move tank chassis for mounting and dismounting tanks, moving loaded and unloaded tanks to ISO tank steam pad for heating, to tank access platform for in-gating and out-gating inspections and various pressure testing requirements.
- Ability to learn and perform 2.5 year and 5 year calibrated tank pressure tests.
ISO Depot Operations Support
- Follow all work instructions and complete documentation accurately and on time.
- Assist with general ISO Depot tasks including tank labeling, and inventory.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the ISO Depot heating and inspection areas.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, policies, and PPE requirements.
- Report any injuries, incidents, safety hazards, or contamination issues to management immediately.
- Participate in safety training and adhere to site-specific workplace policies.
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate equipment issues, shipping discrepancies, tank damage and safety concerns promptly to leadership.
- Collaborate with ISO Depot team members to meet daily productivity goals.
- Support continuous improvement efforts in operational efficiency and workplace safety.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid driver's license required; forklift certification preferred but not required. Yard Truck experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs for up to 15 minutes and move objects up to 75 lbs.
- Proficient in completing paperwork and basic data entry.
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work independently.
