JOB SUMMARY:


The Information Technology Director is responsible for leading, planning, coordinating, and overseeing the information technology function for the organization. This position works closely with executive leadership and business leaders to ensure that IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, support services, and technology change efforts accomplish organizational goals in a fashion that minimizes disruption to normal business operations. This position is responsible for creating and presenting business use cases that convey the need, outcome, result, and return on investment for IT-focused initiatives and improvements. The role works closely with internal staff and 3rd party technical resources to implement and maintain technology solutions and requires a strong ability to communicate and coordinate with external entities. 


This position will be influential in guiding the organization into the future with a sound and disciplined IT operations environment. The organization maintains multiple office locations, and support may be required at temporary locations as part of outreach or operational programs.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and lead the organization’s IT strategy in alignment with business priorities.
  • Direct and oversee IT operations, infrastructure, support services, cybersecurity, and technology improvement efforts.
  • Create and present business cases for IT initiatives, operational improvements, and technology change projects.
  • Track and manage the portfolio of IT operational and change projects.
  • Provide communication and coordinate business area participation in projects and major technology initiatives.
  • Plan for, incorporate, and communicate organizational plans and changes related to technology services and systems.
  • Lead technology changes and advise executive leadership on changes that impact the organization as opportunities or risks.
  • Coordinate and gather requirements across all business areas for IT change efforts and operational improvements.
  • Establish, maintain, and update IT policies, procedures, standards, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Provide input and updates to management for budget planning, budget tracking, and technology investment decisions.
  • Direct and oversee IT vendors, managed service providers, software providers, and other 3rd party technical resources.
  • Oversee system reliability, business continuity, backup practices, disaster recovery readiness, and security controls.
  • Lead and develop IT staff and support resources, including assigning priorities, delegating duties, and monitoring performance; with a strong emphasis on development, acting as a “player/coach”, to upskill staff where needed.
  • Ensure the organization receives timely and effective support for users, systems, hardware, software, networks, and communication devices.
  • Design and deliver end-user technology and security awareness training programs that enhance user proficiency, promote cybersecurity best practices, and reduce organizational risk through improved adoption of secure technology behaviors.
  • Evaluate current and emerging technologies and recommend changes to enhance operations, security, efficiency, and user support.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or 8-10 years equivalent work experience in similar fields required.
  • At least 5-7 years’ experience in working in blended IT teams (internal and external resources).
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience managing an environment that used an IT managed service provider.
  • At least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in delivering and overseeing IT change projects and operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, document, and analyze business requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform business requirements into technical requirements and present solutions to meet them.
  • Demonstrated ability to create project plans, schedules, and roadmaps for IT change projects and operational initiatives.
  • Ability to plan, track, and communicate updates on multiple projects and priorities.
  • Two years or more IT contract management and vendor oversight experience supporting a service organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of system administration and utilities in a multi-platform environment.
  • Advanced network proficiency (routers, switches, and firewalls) with experience and knowledge of systems administration required.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of current PC operating systems, hardware, and software.
  • Ability to analyze and conceptualize system design to implement technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of design methods, development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate technical issues to diverse groups.
  • Ability to learn new software and hardware.
  • Ability to assess workload, available resources, define priorities and delegate duties.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with M365 Exchange, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Excellent writing skills for both technical training documents and policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Standard office environment and work in a cooler and noisier server room.
  • Standard workdays and hours with continuous on-call status for urgent information system needs.
  • Ability to perform tasks that may involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, including but not limited to, usually lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks that may require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment.
  • Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed instructions to other or important spoken workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.



Salary Description
$101,000 - $125,000 annually
