Job Title: Receiving and Inventory Control Supervisor

Reports to: Director of Operations 

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

Duties and responsibilities include supervising all receiving, inventory control, warehouse put-away, and inventory accuracy activities. This position is responsible for ensuring incoming products are accurately received and transacted within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, maintaining inventory integrity through barcode scanning technology, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation processes, while providing leadership, training, and operational support to warehouse personnel..


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily management of receiving employees and provide necessary training.
  • Fill in when needed for Receiving Clerk for time off (vacations, sickness, or personal time).
  • Assist with unloading incoming shipments, completing purchase order receiving transactions and stocking inventory to correct warehouse locations.
  • Inspect merchandise upon receipt to verify quality and accuracy.
  • Generate reports and reconcile inventory quantities.
  • Responsible for product placement within the warehouse and material handling activities.
  • Process customer returns and assist with defective returns to vendors.
  • Coordinate with carriers regarding deliveries and damaged freight decisions.
  • Ensure receiving area is clean, organized, and safe.
  • Monitor and maintain current inventory levels, track orders, and investigate inventory issues.
  • Manage all inventory transactions within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and ensure inventory records accurately reconcile to physical inventory quantities.
  • Perform weekly cycle counts and oversee annual physical inventory counts.
  • Lead the daily execution of receiving, inventory control, warehouse put-away, and inventory accuracy processes utilizing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Manage and maintain warehouse barcode scanning processes using Insight Works Warehouse Insight and related mobile scanning devices.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions, receipts, transfers, put-aways, picks, adjustments, and cycle counts are accurately recorded in Business Central in real time.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, transaction errors, and system exceptions to maintain inventory integrity.
  • Train, coach, and support warehouse personnel on Business Central, barcode scanning procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support implementation and ongoing optimization of warehouse technology solutions, including barcode scanning, inventory management, license plate tracking, and shipping systems.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures supporting inventory accuracy, traceability, and audit compliance.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy metrics and implement corrective action plans when discrepancies occur.
  • Assist with warehouse layout optimization, slotting strategies, and inventory location management.
  • Maintain warehouse overstock locations and defective inventory processes.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Client Services, Program Materials, and Operations departments.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs with vendors as needed.
  • Ensure safety and operational guidelines are met.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce cost and increase productivity.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in receiving, warehouse, inventory control, or distribution operations required.


Skills/Experience 

  • Experience utilizing ERP systems in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Preferred: Experience with Insight Works Warehouse Insight, Dynamic Ship, License Plates, or similar warehouse technology solutions.
  • Experience with barcode scanning technology and inventory control systems.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accuracy, cycle counting, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Ability to analyze inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, reporting tools, and data analysis.
  • Experience training employees on warehouse systems and operational procedures.
  • Preferred: Experience leading system implementations or process improvement initiatives.
  • Certified to operate forklift or ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Travel 

Local travel for occasional errands is required.
