General Summary
The Production Planning Manager will oversee the day-to-day production planning and inventory control functions maximizing plant resources to meet or exceed planned results in inventory levels and operating costs. The position is responsible for planning and scheduling production activities, including material planning, to meet customer demands and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Manage the Production Planning functions, including maintenance and execution of the master production schedule and maximize plant resources to meet demand. Organize and coordinate various sections of manufacturing. Follow up on performance against estimates.
- Manage effective and service-oriented planning functions to ensure that correct procedures are established and adhered to for achieving the maximum return possible on customer orders, while continually improving responsiveness, reliability, and service.
- Manage the purchasing and material planning functions in the planning and procurement of raw materials and supplies as required to execute the master schedule.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, and procurement teams to gather information on customer orders, inventory levels, and raw material availability.
- Monitor and analyze production capacity against demand, adjusting as necessary to ensure on-time delivery.
- Generate regular reports on production performance, key metrics, and any deviations from the production plan, with specific attention to material-related issues.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in material planning processes.
- Instrumental in continuous improvement activities through research, benchmarking, and identification of improved methods or tools to increase efficiency.
- May audit inventory transactions and data entry of daily cycle counts.
- Review and analyze reports, records, and directives, and confer with managers/supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered.
- May supervise the maintenance of purchase order/invoices/receiving records system and may prepare instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Production Planner in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficient in using manufacturing resource planning (ERP) software.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Maintain regular, consistent attendance & punctuality. Must have a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
- There is exposure to extreme temperatures (cold and hot).
- There is exposure to dust and food allergens.
- Personal protective Equipment is available upon request but is not required for this position.
- Lifting to 50 pounds unassisted frequently.

Compensation Range: $85,000 – $105,000 annually
Compensation is based on the level of experience, other relevant experience, and requirements of the position.
