Position Purpose:

Planning, establishing, implementing, overseeing, and maintaining a variety of health, safety, and environmental programs to assist in establishing a safe environment for employees. Ensure that Meyer strives to maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. Diligent and analytical to focus on injury prevention and have an eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers.


Pay:

  • Annual salary based on experience
  • Full-time, salaried role (minimum 45 hours per week)

Schedule:

  • Salaried position working a minimum of 45 hours per week. Flexible schedule, with average time: 
  • Monday through Friday, three days from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and two days from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Traveling schedule will be based on travel needs
  • In-office position
  • Occasional travel required; schedule will vary based on business and operational needs

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of safety experience, a degree in Safety Management, or experience in a related management role preferred.
  • Active First Aid certification and completion of the OSHA 30-Hour Course are preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Business or a related field preferred.
  • Valid Indiana driver's license required.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Enforce OSHA regulations, standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct accident, injury, and near-miss investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement effective hazard control measures.
  • Collaborate with leadership to monitor compliance and proactively identify safety concerns.
  • Intervene and correct unsafe behaviors, conditions, or operations.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations and warehouse safety training as needed.
  • Perform quarterly safety walkthroughs at company facilities and annual audits at remote locations.
  • Evaluate training needs, recommend improvements, and help develop and coordinate company safety programs.
  • Conduct classroom and hands-on Powered Industrial Truck (forklift) certification training.
  • Spend a minimum of two evenings per week on the warehouse floor, coaching employees, reinforcing safe behaviors, and addressing unsafe conditions.
  • Perform drug testing responsibilities and maintain proficiency in reasonable suspicion procedures.
  • Manage and investigate workers' compensation claims, including documentation, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of first aid supplies and safety equipment.
  • Ensure PPE assignments and compliance records are accurately documented in company systems (e.g., Paylocity).
  • Provide first aid assistance when necessary.
  • Lead weekly safety talks and awareness sessions focused on incident trends, concerns, and preventative measures.
  • Partner with warehouse, logistics, and cross-functional teams to ensure safety remains a top organizational priority.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and application of federal and state workers’ compensation laws and experience with legal documents
  • Must have general knowledge of federal, state and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of office equipment including copiers, fax machines, computers, etc.
  • Planning/organizing and follow-up skills —the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans, and follows up to ensure compliance
  • Communication - Must have excellent oral and written communication skills up and down the organizational structure.
