Automotive Mechanical Technician
Description

An Automotive Mechanical Technician / PDI Technician performs pre-delivery inspections (PDI), basic mechanical repairs, and quality checks on vehicles prior to customer delivery. This role is responsible for ensuring all vehicles meet safety, mechanical, and cosmetic standards with a focus on efficiency and zero rework.

Requirements
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections on incoming vehicles, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and safety components meet company standards. 
  • Complete basic mechanical work including fluid checks, brake inspections, battery testing/replacement, tire inspections, and minor repair.
  • Identify and document any defects or required repairs and communicate clearly with management.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and service records.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, presentable, and ready for delivery. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area, tools, and safety equipment
  • Follow all company safety and quality standards


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in auto technician, lube technician or PDI technician preferred.
  • Strong basic mechanical knowledge including brakes, fluids, times and battery systems.
  • Ability to identify mechanical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Must be dependable, detail-focused, and a team player.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • 18 years of age or older

Education:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent




Working conditions

Work Environment:

  • Physical Setting: Automotive technical work is performed primarily in auto body shops, reconditioning centers, or dedicated paint prep areas. Depending on the facility, it may include both indoor and semi-outdoor workspaces with ventilation and dust-control systems.
  • Noise & Safety: The environment includes moderate to high noise levels, exposure to dust, chemicals, and paint fumes. Proper safety equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and protective eyewear is required.

Physical requirements

  • The role involves repetitive motion, standing, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs), and often working on tight deadlines.
