Description

Basic Function:

Responsible for processing castings thru liquid penetrant; inspecting casting under a black light process for discontinuities; performing analysis of any discontinuities; utilize small hand tools; make experienced go-no go casting decisions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.
  2. Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
  3. Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
  4. Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process
  5. Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information 
  6. Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards
  7. Process magnesium and aluminum sand casting through oil bath, rinse and oven dry
  8. Inspect castings under a black light process for discontinuities per customer specifications
  9. Perform analysis on any discontinuity using small hand tools to blend or dig out noted areas
  10. Make accept/ reject decisions base on customer specification
  11. Create non-conformance paperwork noting reject information and move to MRB table
  12. Assist in the training of Penetrant trainees and Penetrant Level 1 personnel
  13. Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management
Requirements

Skills:

Basic math, basic reading, basic oral communication, time management, professionalism, must be able to read, write and understand English; External level 2 certification that can be transferred to Chicago Magnesium.


Education/Training:

High school degree or equivalent passing test Penetrant Test, level 2 Practical Test, Physical Test (Vision) and Written Test


Experience:

Training and experience per TP500 and SP500, at a minimum must have been certified to a Penetrant Level 1
