Position Summary:

Galion LLC(www.galionllc.com) is a family-owned, precision machining company located in Galion, Ohio which employs 105+ people. The company specializes in manufacturing custom screw-machined parts, CNC turned components, and cold-formed metal parts for the defense, automotive, and related industrial markets. 

Galion LLC is seeking a Controller with significant manufacturing accounting experience to lead all accounting, financial reporting, and cost management functions. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, overseeing the accounting team, and working closely with Operations to drive financial performance. The selected individual will play a critical role in analyzing financial and operational performance, identifying anomalies or negative trends, and providing proactive recommendations that enhance profitability and cash flow.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

· Lead all accounting and finance operations which include, but are not limited to general ledger maintenance, month-end closing, financial statement preparation and cost accounting.

· Prepare accurate monthly and annual GAAP-compliant financial reports for company leadership and ownership.

· Maintain strong internal controls across accounting processes, financial reporting, and asset management.

· Effectively manage cash flow to support liquidity and working capital needs.

Cost Accounting 

· Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard cost development, variance analysis, labor/burden allocation, and inventory valuation.

· Partner with Operations to analyze production costs, scrap, efficiencies, and margin performance.

· Maintain accurate BOMs, routings, and cost models to support pricing and profitability.

· Oversee physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation.

Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement

· Oversee ERP/financial system accuracy, data integrity, and reporting functionality.

· Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency across accounting workflows.

· Support implementation of new systems, tools, and reporting enhancements.

Leadership & Team Management

· Lead and develop the accounting team, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

· Provide coaching, training, and performance management to strengthen department capabilities.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Operations, Purchasing, and Engineering.

Strategic & Operational Partnership

· Serve as a key financial advisor to the President and leadership team.

· Provide insights on operational performance, cost drivers, and financial risks/opportunities.


Requirements

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required

· CPA preferred.

· 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Must have excellent attention to detail. 

· Proven experience building and leading teams.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.

Salary Description
Up to $120,000 depending on Experience
