Description


POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of the Cocktail Server is to provide friendly, attentive, and timely service to create an exceptional experience for all of our guests. Each Cocktail Server’s primary objective is to show our guests quality service delivered with a smile in each and every interaction so that they will want to become a repeat customer.


Top 5 Specific Job Functions:

  • Greets guests in a friendly, timely manner and requests the primary beverage order
  • Initiates conversation with guests, inquiring about their satisfaction with their experience at our hotel 
  • Prepare garnishes for drinks
  • Expedites drink orders for each guest quickly and accurately.
  • Maintains a guest focus while performing all duties


Other Specific Job Functions:

  • Assumes 100% responsibility for the quality of the guest’s experience
  • Knowledgeable with all types of liquors and beers and their respective recipes, non-alcoholic beverages, and garnishes
  • Takes beverage orders from guests
  • Communicate orders into the system through Bartender, ensuring transmission is verified
  • Ability to provide complimentary cocktails to gaming customers based on company gaming standards.
  • Transports glasses back to the bar for washing and disposes of trash in designated receptacles.
  • Adheres to all responsible alcohol serving requirements as dictated by the state; requests identification from guests ordering alcohol when the legal age is questionable
  • Complete opening side duties: fold/stack cocktail napkins, stock swizzle sticks, straws, matches, line cocktail trays, stock glassware, restock supply cabinet, inspect cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas; rectify any deficiencies
  • Anticipates guest needs, when possible
  • Communicates with servers and managers regarding guest requests.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Other related duties as necessary


RESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL MANAGEMENT

  • Recognize and acknowledge when Guests are becoming intoxicated and/or are intoxicated
  • Monitor potentially intoxicated and/or disruptive Guests and promptly bring to a Manager’s attention
  • Refuse further service of alcohol to intoxicated Guests in a courteous and safety-minded manner
  • Responsible for accurately checking Guest identification
  • Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as Company and/or departmental policies/procedures
  • Comply with all state and federal liquor laws

Requirements


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


Required:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year previous high volume cocktail experience 
  • Minimum of one-year customer service experience in a previous position, where the primary job duty is direct customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills
  • A highly motivated and energetic personality
  • Must be able to initiate and engage in conversation in a professional and friendly manner. 
  • Must present a professional and pleasant appearance that guests will find appealing and approachable in order to engage in conversation
  • Must be able to work any day of the week and scheduled shift
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude.
  • Ability to handle cash and accurately make change.


Preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Must have the ability to work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors, such as, but not limited to, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the physical ability to access all areas of the facility; move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects; withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing at least 50 lbs. without restriction.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure; work indoors and outdoors, as well as being exposed to hot/cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors.
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors; however, there are events where outdoor activities are required. Indoor temperatures are moderate and controlled by internal environmental systems.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and noisy environment.
