Are you passionate about supporting young children through nutrition? Community Progress Council is seeking a Food Service Kitchen Lead to join our Health and Nutrition Team in the Early Childhood Education program. In this role, you will coordinate kitchen operations, including food production, transportation, and recordkeeping, while preparing nutritious, appealing meals using standardized recipes. All duties follow CACFP guidelines to ensure quality, safety, and compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support across multiple centers with meal preparation as directed by the Food Service Coordinator.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks in full compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
- Ensure timely delivery of meals to classrooms and designated centers and return all containers to the central kitchen according to schedule.
- Accurately maintain required documentation, including production logs, vendor delivery records, and center delivery forms, to support safe food handling practices.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of food, supplies, and cleaning materials; place orders as directed.
- Receive, unpack, and properly store deliveries in accordance with safety standards.
- Uphold a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment by maintaining all equipment, surfaces, and storage areas.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and cross-training opportunities; flexibility to work outside standard hours as needed.
- Support agency initiatives and events, in collaboration with leadership, to help achieve Community Progress Council’s goals and mission.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required, along with at least one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- ServSafe Food Handler certification preferred; must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification preferred.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and current insurance required, along with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) that meets insurance standards.
