Description

The Parts Counter Associate is responsible for the accurate and efficient operation of the parts department. This role supports both internal service teams and external customers by managing parts receiving, stocking, picking, packing, shipping, invoicing, and sales. The Parts Counter Associate plays a key role in inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, and overall branch efficiency.

This position is classified as safety sensitive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of parts procurement, vendor relations, and customer service for heavy construction applications.
  • Manage all aspects of parts receiving, stocking, picking, packing, shipping, and selling.
  • Process parts orders for customers and the service department, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Read and interpret parts diagrams and breakdowns using electronic parts catalogs.
  • Track and manage open orders and backorders; communicate status and tracking updates to customers and internal departments.
  • Process and track all parts returns, including all core returns, and ensure credits are received.
  • Verify parts pricing, quantities, and condition upon receipt.
  • All purchasing, receiving, and tracking of parts, including pulling invoices and working with office support on verifying and proper coding of invoices.
  • Invoice parts sales, shipping, and handling charges accurately.
  • Maintain proper parts stocking levels and assist with inventory rotation to reduce surplus or obsolete inventory.
  • Upsell related or recommended parts based on product knowledge and customer needs.
  • Ship and receive parts using various logistics providers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, freight carriers).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts storage and warehouse environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and pride in customer service at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management or the Operations Manager.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment with walk-in customers and multiple phone calls.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn parts and inventory systems.
  • The position of Parts Counter Associate is classified as a safety-sensitive position. 

Technology & Equipment

  • Operation of a forklift and pump dolly (training provided if needed).
  • Use of electronic parts catalogs and inventory systems.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently; team lifting encouraged for items over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders to access shelving.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.

Licensing

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet General Liability driving requirements when operating a company vehicle.
Salary Description
18-20 per hour
