Position Summary: 

McCallie seeks an Assistant Gift Officer to support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects within the school’s philanthropic community. This role is ideal for an emerging advancement professional who brings strong organizational skills, relational instincts, and a service-oriented mindset, and who is eager to grow in the practice of relationship-based fundraising.


The Assistant Gift Officer works closely with senior philanthropy colleagues to advance donor relationships, execute engagement strategies, and strengthen McCallie’s culture of philanthropy. This individual collaborates with internal partners and the Advancement Services/Operations (ASO) team to ensure effective communication, data integrity, and coordinated outreach.


This position provides meaningful exposure to major gift work while offering mentorship, structure, and opportunities for progressive responsibility in a dynamic independent school fundraising environment.


This is a year-round, 12-month, full-time position. It is considered exempt and eligible for full benefits.


Primary Responsibilities:


Key Function #1 – Donor and Prospect Support

  • Support the identification, engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects within an assigned, developing portfolio focused in the local Chattanooga market and by way of virtual visits.
  • Support the donor pipeline by working with teammates to research, qualify, cultivate and steward new and existing relationships with priority focus on qualification and stewardship as directed by leadership
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates in the CRM system to support data integrity and relationship movement towards giving outcomes
  • Track activities and metrics related to outreach, engagement, and stewardship.
  • Participate in the moves management process and contribute insights on emerging prospects.

Key Function #2 – Development Program Execution

  • Collaborate with philanthropy colleagues to implement cultivation and stewardship initiatives across constituencies.
  • Coordinate with Engagement and Operations colleagues on event logistics, data needs, campaign and stewardship support.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of targeted qualification and cultivation opportunities and programs.

Key Function #3 – Community and Constituent Engagement

  • Support volunteer engagement efforts and assist in building relationships across the McCallie community.
  • Contribute to donor stewardship efforts, including thank you calls, and other personalized outreach.
  • Represent the Development Office at school and community events as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • 1–3 years of experience in advancement, nonprofit, education, or a related field preferred;
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and donor databases a plus;
  • Deep understanding of, support for, and desire to live out McCallie’s mission for the good of McCallie boys - including both the school’s Christian foundation and its commitment to the ideals of honor, truth, and duty.
