Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as a Maintenance Worker?

  • As a Maintenance Worker in the Facilities department you will responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and daily, monthly, yearly upkeep of the agencies buildings and grounds.
  • A typical day as a Maintenance Worker will include completing /filling all daily maintenance requests from all programs, assisting the Resource Development as needed with special projects, pickups and volunteer projects. The ability to work as partner with other teams members. You will work Monday-Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be punctual, arrive on time, and prepared
  • Learn and utilize the organization’s systems, processes and procedures as instructed

  • Display trauma informed practices and principles in your interactions with customers, with peers and with leadership
  • Complete all needed maintenance as spelled out in the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly agency maintenance plan.
  • Complete/fill daily maintenance requests from all programs.
  • Assist Resource Development as needed with special projects, pickups and volunteer projects.
  • Ability to work as a partner with other team members.
  • Assist the Chief Facilities Officer and Maintenance Coordinator with assessing and scheduling needed maintenance per the agency maintenance plan.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator and Chief Facilities Officer.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:


  • Must have a valid North Carolina Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
  • Education requirement for this individual contributor role is: General maintenance and repair experience required in the fields of Buildings, grounds, Heat/AC, Plumbing, electrical etc.
  • Must be able to lift 75+lbs on a consistent basis. Also must be able to lift, pull, push, carry, climb, work in and out doors etc.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in Maintenance/Facilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
