As a Sheetfed Press Operator, you'll play a key role in producing high-quality printed products that exceed customer expectations. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a sheetfed printing press while ensuring exceptional print quality, production efficiency, and safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor sheetfed printing press equipment to produce high-quality printed materials.
- Review job tickets and verify production specifications before beginning each job.
- Perform press make-readies, including plate changes, ink adjustments, and feeder setup.
- Monitor print quality throughout production, making color and registration adjustments as needed to maintain customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot press issues and make necessary adjustments to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of press equipment.
- Perform quality inspections to ensure finished products meet company and customer standards.
- Accurately complete production documentation and report production data.
- Monitor inventory levels of inks, coatings, plates, and other press supplies.
- Work closely with press assistants, prepress, and finishing departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of jobs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with training or mentoring less experienced operators or press assistants as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3-5 years of sheetfed press operating experience required.
- Additional experience with web offset printing presses a bonus
- Strong understanding of print production processes, color management, registration, and print quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets and production specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer skills for production reporting and job tracking.
Physical Requirements
- Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending.
- Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally.
- Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination.
- Requires working around and operating departmental equipment.
