Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the store. This role oversees daily operations, sales performance, inventory management, customer satisfaction, and employee development while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The General Manager is accountable for driving sales growth, controlling expenses, and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the store to ensure efficient, safe, and profitable business performance.
- Recruit, train, coach, develop, and supervise store employees to maximize productivity, engagement, and retention.
- Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Drive sales growth by developing the team, executing company sales strategies, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Meet or exceed established sales, profitability, and operational goals.
- Manage the store's operating budget by monitoring revenue, controlling expenses, and improving overall profitability.
- Resolve customer concerns and employee issues promptly, professionally, and in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and safeguard company assets through effective inventory management and loss prevention practices.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, well-maintained, and merchandised to company standards.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the overall customer experience and increase customer loyalty.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and business partners.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Analyze operational and sales reports to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and other departments to achieve company objectives and support strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of retail or wholesale sales management experience.
- Experience leading multiple operational functions, including sales, inventory, customer service, and employee management.
- Building materials or lumber industry experience is preferred.
Language
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb, and perform other physical activities throughout the workday.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and other seasonal elements.
Compensation
The expected annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000, depending on qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and overall fit for the role.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in the Company's commission program in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable commission plan.
