Community Progress Council is seeking dedicated Floating Teachers to support our Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms during the 2026–2027 school year. This vital role provides classroom continuity and ensures high-quality learning experiences for children by serving as an additional teacher across multiple classrooms.
As a Floating Teacher, you will step into classrooms as needed to cover teacher absences, maintain required staff-to-child ratios, and support classroom operations during teacher planning time, breaks, and other scheduled absences. You will actively supervise children, foster a safe and engaging learning environment, and collaborate with teaching staff to implement lesson plans and daily activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the mission and goals of Community Progress Council and Early Head Start/Head Start of York County.
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment while supervising and caring for children.
- Assist with daily routines, including diapering, toileting, handwashing, meals, and classroom transitions.
- Observe, document, and support children's developmental progress.
- Assist Teachers with developmental assessments, lesson preparation, and classroom documentation.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness through daily sanitizing, laundry, and organization.
- Complete daily logs and other required records accurately and timely.
- Provide classroom coverage during staff breaks and support overall program operations.
- Collaborate with staff to promote positive outcomes for children and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, Elementary Education, or a related field with one year of preschool experience preferred. Associate degree candidates in these fields may also be considered.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety procedures, policies, and instructional materials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage effectively with families, staff, and community partners.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required.
- Ability to communicate in clients’ preferred language whenever possible.
- Basic math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Windows-based systems preferred.
