BHA Academy is hiring compassionate, dependable, and motivated Paraprofessionals to support students with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges in a structured educational setting. Pay & Sign-On Bonus

  • Starting Pay: From $17.92/hour, based on education, experience, and qualifications
  • $1,000 Sign-On Bonus
    • $500 after 90 days
    • Additional $500 after 180 days (with continued employment in good standing)

What You'll Do

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with students while promoting safety, dignity, and independence.
  • Support classroom instruction using evidence-based strategies, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Assist with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans, and skill-building activities.
  • Help students during instruction, transitions, therapies, and community-based learning.
  • Collect and document student progress and behavior data.
  • Provide personal care support as needed, including toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance.
  • Maintain an organized, structured learning environment.
  • Support crisis prevention and intervention procedures following training and safety plans.
  • Administer medications as trained and authorized.
  • Collaborate with teachers, behavior clinicians, therapists, and fellow team members.
  • Participate in team meetings, required training, and professional development.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stay calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Ability to support students throughout the school day
  • Willingness to complete crisis intervention/de-escalation training
  • Commitment to creating a positive learning environment

Preferred

  • College coursework in education, psychology, or a related field
  • One year of experience working with children or individuals with developmental or behavioral needs (experience welcomed but not required)
