Assembly Technician
Description

Constructs custom assemblies and fabricates value-added assembly items as needed by customers and for stock.


Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and construct custom stock assemblies by performing the following: plasma cutting, welding, soldering, grinding, painting, electrical wiring, fabricating hose and tubing to various sizes, using general hand and power tools, as well as performing various diagnostic and trouble-shooting practices.
  • Interact and take direction from the Assembly Division Coordinator and management team for scheduling and prioritizing assembly projects and methods to use in completing tasks.
  • Use calculators and charts to determine appropriate components to be used in some assemblies.
  • Document new and changed custom assemblies through the use of digital cameras, computers, scanners, faxes, and electronic drawings in conjunction with applications engineering. 
  • Testing completed units to the prescribed standards as required and specified by customers. 
Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical Aptitude a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates. 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:

  •  The essential functions of this role regularly require the employee to sit; use their hands to grasp, handle, or feel objects; and to speak and hear effectively. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
