Summary
The Buyer coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, and parts in an FDA regulated and ISO Certified environment.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Process purchase orders and requisitions to maintain an accurate delivery schedule and pricing of parts, and services.
- Collaborate with production and production scheduling to expedite parts as needed.
- Assist Accounting with annual budget for purchased parts inventory and price changes.
- Forecast, monitor, and adjust vendor lead times, order quantities, and safety stock to ensure supply chain flow while minimizing inventory and cost surplus.
- Product research and supplier sourcing and vetting.
- Maintain vendor relationships, records, and performance reports cards against price, quality, delivery, etc. (may necessitate vendor site visits). Liaison between vendor and quality control to ensure root cause and resolution of any non-conforming goods or services and participate in the corrective action process.
- Research root cause of purchased parts receiving, inventory, and supplier invoice discrepancies and bring to resolution.
- Follow regulatory procedures in maintaining documentation and other data as needed.
- Actively contributes to department’s continuous improvement initiatives regarding quality, delivery, price, and positive Purchasing Price Variances.
- Kanban creation and maintenance may apply in some cases.
- Other purchasing related activities and projects as requested.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate or Bachelor degree in applicable major with a minimum of three years’ relatable work experience or a minimum of six years direct supply chain /customer relations/problem solving experience, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong user of Office 365, TEAMS, and other relatable business software applications.
- Competency in data analytics a plus.
- Knowledge of Engineering, Machining, Metals and Plastics forming/fabricating, and electronics manufacturing practices is a plus.
