SUMMARY
The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the shipping and receiving of material. Ensures an efficient flow of material throughout the warehouse. This includes being responsible for processing materials and maintaining control of inventory through the various warehouse system.
JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE
- Schedules and routes all trucking deliveries.
- Coordinates shipping schedule with Production and Customer Service Departments for deliveries.
- Ensures proper staging of second loads.
- Supervises scheduling of truck pickups for out of state deliveries.
- Carries out regular inventory reconciliation of supplied materials as well as cycle counts.
- Reports any short shipments.
- Completes all paperwork relating to the received goods and processing the delivery receipts in a timely manner.
- Participates in monthly inventory process.
- Resolves questions and inventory problems that may arise.
- Maintains the shipping team organization and housekeeping.
- Coordinates the movement of goods between the storage facility and the Production facility.
- Identifies opportunities for enhancement and suggest ways of improvements to Manager.
- Ensures the compliance of safety guidelines in the warehouse.
- Complies with OSHA rules and practices.
- Wears the proper safety equipment for the environment including safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
- Ensure the proper care and maintenance of all department equipment.
- Fully participates in quality improvement process including NCRs
- Exhibits excellent and professional communication with peers and colleagues.
- Applies strong attention to detail as well as follow up on tasks and follow through for appropriate and timely completion of projects.
- Delegates workload to forklift operators.
- Ensures shipments ready for delivery and next day appointments (first outs and second outs).
- Responsible for communicating with forklift operators, logistics coordinator, production supervisors, digital team and Cardinal yard drivers as required for job responsibilities.
- Ensures forklift drivers fill out forklift inspection report daily and submit at month end.
- Ensures outbound trucks are loaded properly and safely for on time delivery.
- Provides all necessary information and knowledge transfer from 2nd shift to first shift.
- Performs other related duties as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- High School diploma/GED required.
- Must have ability to see and differential color.
- Efficient use of computer.
- Strong organizational & communication skills: Writing, Speaking
- Ability to recommend and implement customer solutions to drive top and bottom-line improvement.
- Ability to handle multiple projects within a fast-paced work environment.
- Valid Driver's License with DMV evidence of good driving record.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a rapidly changing environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Capable to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
- Read tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
- Apply concepts of high school math.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is required to stand for long periods of time go up/down step ladders, stairs and elevating platforms. The employee frequently is required to use their hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to perform repetitive motions and must have strong finger dexterity.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds utilizing the buddy system. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close, distance, peripheral and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee works around powered industrial trucks, heavy objects, conveyor systems, and machines including highly energized systems such as pneumatic and electrical systems. The employee works with chemicals, high heat items, and sharp objects. The employee uses pneumatic systems including air and water hoses. The employee must be able to adapt to a changing work environment.
