GENERAL SUMMARY


The Manager of Data Governance is critical for The Specialty Alliance’s ongoing efforts to enhance data trust, integrity, and reliability at an enterprise-level. This role will act as the administrator for our Cloudera environment, and will be required to collaborate with the Manager of Analytics and Manager of Data Engineering on datasets and their business use cases in order to deliver the organization’s Data-as-a-Service platform. The role will involve developing and communicating data governance policies with senior- and executive-leadership and establishing sustainable governance processes across all areas of business operations.

  • Define and execute the enterprise data governance roadmap, aligning with organizational and technology strategy.
  • Drive adoption of governance standards across business and clinical domains, ensuring enterprise-wide compliance and accountability.
  • Serve as the executive-facing leader for data governance, providing updates, metrics, and risk visibility to senior leadership.
  • Ensuring that data is accurate, reliable, and maintained to high standards throughout its lifecycle.
  • Harmonizing conflicting data sources and centralizing them into a consolidated source of truth to improve data trust and accuracy.
  • Leading and mentoring the data management team, facilitating communications across multiple committees, and engaging with data consumers to build a community that supports governance practices and policies.
  • Performing data analytics to examine and interpret raw data, answering questions, and finding trends to improve customer relations and organizational efficiency.
  • Performing data engineering responsibilities as necessary to support or enhance the results of the data engineering team.
  • Acting as the organization's data security and compliance expert, ensuring that data practices adhere to internal policies and external regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Information Science, Data Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree in these disciplines will also be considered.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • 5+ years of experience in ETL, data engineering, and data architecture.
  • 5+ years of SQL experience with enterprise data (SQL Server, Oracle, DataBricks, SnowFlake).
  • 5+ years of healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a collaboration platform such as Team Foundation Server (TFS), DevOps, Jira or similar strongly preferred.
