Position Summary
The Tagger is responsible for accurately tagging plants for shipment using retail and/or brand tags while ensuring all orders are prepared correctly and efficiently. This position works closely with the QC Supervisor and QC Technician to ensure plants are properly identified, staged, and prepared for loading. During slower production periods, the Tagger supports other shipping and production functions to help meet operational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Busy Season
- Meet with the QC Lead/Shipping Manager at the beginning of each shift to receive pick lists and tagging assignments.
- Prepare baskets with all required tags for each truck.
- Separate and organize tags by truck and secure them with rubber bands.
- Clearly label tag baskets according to the assigned truck.
- Apply the correct retail and/or brand tags to plants according to customer requirements.
- Obtain retail tags from the QC Supervisor when required.
- Work alongside the QC Technician during the quality control process.
- Tag plants only after they have been verified by QC.
- Maintain the proper workflow by remaining behind the QC Technician until plants have been approved for shipment.
- Ensure all plants are tagged accurately before loading.
Downtime Responsibilities
- Prepare materials for upcoming truck shipments.
- Clean and organize shipping lanes and work areas.
- Assist with loading trucks as needed.
- Support production operations when shipping activity is limited.
Friday Responsibilities
- Assist production or other departments as assigned to support business operations.
Slow Season Responsibilities
During the fall and winter months, when seasonal H-2A employees have departed and shipping volume decreases, the Tagger will assist across multiple shipping functions to ensure daily operational goals are met. Responsibilities may include:
- Picking
- Tagging
- Loading
- Assisting wherever needed within the shipping department.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Shipping Manager or other designated supervisor.
