Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the clinic physicians, and nurse practitioners, the RN functions in a team and as a mission-based clinic nurse in an outpatient primary health care clinic serving the low-income, working poor, and homeless. Utilize the nursing process in providing patient care, case management, and education focused on treatment compliance and health risk factor reduction. Perform diagnostic laboratory tests, therapeutic procedures, and patient education under the direction of the clinic physician. Ensure the efficient and effective flow of patients during scheduled clinics through joint planning and problem-solving with clinic staff and volunteers. Protect the dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of patients and families, as well as co-workers and others.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the spirit of Waterfall Community Health Center to remove barriers to care and our mission statement while performing assigned duties.
- Demonstrate the core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Partnership, and Collaborative Communication.
- Oversees the care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance, and restoration of patient’s health and wellness.
- Oversees patient needs and suggests solutions to patient care problems.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and with clinic standards of quality patient care in tandem with COO and CMO/Medical Director.
- Interprets the patient and family diagnosis and treatment plans consistent with individual skills and the wishes of the clinician.
- Communicates information or results to the patient as directed by the medical provider/clinician.
- Teaches basic principles of healthy living and health risk factor reduction.
- Responds to phone calls from patients, triage requests, and routing them to the appropriate staff or community resources as requested.
- Maintains a good working report with Clinic Manager to ensure smooth ongoing medical functions.
- Assists CMO/Medical Director and Clinical Trainer in ancillary staff training as requested.
- Performs related duties necessary to ensure quality patient care as requested by supervisor.
- Responsible for ensuring and directing medical equipment maintenance when needed.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
· Licensed in Oregon; Fully Credentialed and Insurable
· RN from an accredited school of Nursing, BSN preferred.
· Current Basic Life Support Card
· Non-violent Crisis Intervention Comprehensive training class completed within 6 months of hire and recertify prior to the expiration date.
· To obtain CPR Instructor Certification within 1 year of the hire date.
