The Technical Sales Nutritionist serves as the technical expert for Aztalan Bio's co-products, supporting the Commodities Director and commercial sales team by providing nutritional expertise that drives customer success and business growth. This position partners with feed sales representatives, consulting nutritionists, producers, and commercial feed manufacturers throughout the Upper Midwest to demonstrate the value of Aztalan Bio's products, develop technical solutions, and strengthen customer relationships. The role also serves as a key liaison between customers and internal teams, translating market feedback into product quality improvements, commercial strategies, and operational initiatives while supporting the continued growth of the company's feed ingredient business.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accompany and co-lead sales calls with our feed sales team as the technical expert and closer with nutritionists, dairy producers, beef feedlots, swine operations, and commercial feed mills.
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with consulting nutritionists, key influencers, and strategic customer accounts throughout the Upper Midwest to expand market penetration and identify new business opportunities.
  • Make independent calls on consulting nutritionists and large operations throughout the Upper Midwest.
  • Identify, coordinate, and manage on-farm feed trials by working with customers and nutritionists to establish objectives, monitor progress, collect performance data, evaluate results, and provide technical recommendations that support product adoption and long-term customer success.
  • Present feed value analyses, ration inclusion models, and product quality data to drive trial and conversion.
  • Represent Aztalan Bio at producer meetings, regional industry events, and trade shows.
  • Develop and maintain technical sales materials: product specification sheets, inclusion rate guides, ration formulation examples, and competitive positioning documents.
  • Advise the commercial and commodities team on product positioning, market intelligence, and nutritional benchmarking.
  • Provide nutritional context to inform co-product pricing and forward sales decisions.
  • Serve as the primary conduit between field customer feedback and plant operations.
  • Collaborate with QC and laboratory personnel to evaluate product nutrient consistency, mycotoxin profiles, and quality targets.
  • Translate customer nutritional requirements into actionable product development input for plant leadership.
  • Monitor competitive co-product offerings and communicate market trends internally.

Requirements

  

Required: 

  • Master’s degree in animal nutrition, Ruminant Nutrition, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of ration formulation in ruminant nutrition.
  • Strong communication skills — comfortable presenting technical data to both commercial producers and credentialed consulting nutritionists.
  • Willingness to travel 30%+ within the state of Wisconsin.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable operating in a fast-moving commercial team
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and reliable vehicle to use for farm visits. 


Preferred: 

  • Hands-on experience with distillers grains and wet co-products in commercial ration formulation
  • Proficiency with ration formulation software (CPM Dairy, NDS, AMTS, or similar)
  • Professional Animal Scientist (PAS) certification, or actively pursuing
  • Prior experience in a technical sales, industry nutritionist, or feed company role
  • Familiarity with Upper Midwest dairy and livestock production systems
