EXAMPLES OF JOB FUNCTIONS
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed

Assists with the preparation and serving of various food items according to standardized recipes, policies
and procedures.
Adheres to all applicable federal laws, school board policies, and food service directives.
Maintains accurate daily food production and inventory records.
Records quantity of unused food; stores food according to proper sanitation and standardized food
storage practices; utilizes food effectively.
Operates all food preparation equipment according to all applicable sanitation, safety guidelines and
regulations.
Organizes food serving line and serves as assigned.
Assumes responsibility for cleanliness of the preparation area and equipment used and other areas as
assigned.
Operates cash register during meal service as assigned.
Assists with cash receipts and bank deposits as assigned.
Assists manager in preparing food and supply requisition orders, reports, and inventories.
Participates in professional development/training.
Utilizes current technology, as appropriate, to perform job functions and participates in training
programs offered to increase technology skill level and proficiency related to job assignment.
Performs related duties as directed.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert somewhat strenuous effort in work involving
moderate physical activity, typically involving some combination of standing; walking; sitting; reaching
with hands and arms; kneeling; climbing; balancing; bending or twisting. While performing the duties of
this job, the employee must occasionally lift 30 pounds; carry 15 pounds, push and/or pull up to 30
pounds. Manual dexterity is frequently required. Tasks involve extended periods of time at a keyboard
or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, some tasks regularly require oral
communication ability; the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds; tasks require visual perception
and discrimination.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, tasks are occasionally performed with
exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as outdoor weather conditions; and regularly
performed with exposure to work near moving parts; such as extreme temperatures; work in high,
precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock
High school diploma or GED.
Experience in food preparation within a similar institution preferred.
