The Assistant Coach is a key member of the CATS Academy Boston Basketball Program, with a primary focus on admissions and enrollment. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for basketball admissions and act as the primary liaison between Athletics and Admissions — guiding prospective student-athletes and their families from initial inquiry through arrival on campus. Alongside this enrollment-focused role, the Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in day-to-day coaching and player development, contributes approximately 10 hours per week to Residential Life, and helps build a championship culture centered on accountability, discipline, toughness, and excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the basketball admissions process.
• Act as the primary liaison between Athletics and Admissions, working closely with both domestic and international admissions teams.
• Nurture prospective student-athletes and their families throughout the enrollment journey — from initial inquiry through arrival on campus.
• Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes; build relationships with high school, AAU, and international coaches.
• Conduct campus tours and represent the basketball program at admissions events, prospect days, and recruiting activities.
• Maintain consistent, timely communication with prospective families, and support them through admissions timelines, required documents, interviews, and enrollment steps.
• Support broader campus admissions initiatives and events as needed.
• Represent CATS Academy Boston professionally at all admissions and recruiting events.
• Assist the Head Coach with practice planning and execution, and lead individual and small-group skill development sessions.
• Support scouting, film breakdown, and in-game coaching adjustments.
• Monitor player progress and support academic performance in coordination with faculty and advisors.
• Dedicate approximately 10 hours per week to Residential Life in support of boarding students and the overall student experience.
• Support residential staff with dorm check-ins and evening or weekend supervision as assigned.
• Serve as a trusted mentor and resource for student-athletes adjusting to boarding school life.
• Model professionalism, integrity, and servant leadership; reinforce team standards and accountability.
• Foster an environment where student-athletes thrive academically, athletically, and personally.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Basketball.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Prior coaching experience at the high school, prep, collegiate, or AAU level preferred.
• Experience with, or strong interest in, admissions, recruiting, or enrollment management.
• Experience in a boarding school or residential program environment is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with prospective families, coaches, and staff.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in support of admissions events, games, and residential life duties.
