Job Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations and serving as the primary operational leader for the facility. This hands-on leadership role oversees production activities, staffing, quality, safety, and schedule attainment while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer requirements.
Acting as the operational point person during the absence of the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor works closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Program Management to ensure production goals are achieved while maintaining a safe, efficient, and quality-focused manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership - Direct and oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are achieved. Monitor workflow, staffing, equipment utilization, and production priorities throughout the facility. Lead daily production meetings and coordinate activities across departments.
Team Supervision & Development - Supervise production personnel, leads, and support staff. Coordinate staffing levels, work assignments, training, and cross-training activities. Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to employees. Promote accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement throughout the organization.
Quality & Compliance - Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and internal procedures. Work closely with Quality to address nonconformances, corrective actions, and process improvements.
Safety & Environmental Compliance - Promote a culture of safety throughout the facility. Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA requirements and company safety procedures.
Production Planning & Execution - Coordinate with Supply Chain, Planning, and Program Management to execute production schedules. Monitor production performance and address bottlenecks impacting throughput. Ensure material, equipment, and labor resources are effectively utilized.
Continuous Improvement - Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, throughput, and cost performance. Lead problem-solving efforts using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
Equipment & Facility Support - Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. Support preventive maintenance planning and production equipment readiness.
Reporting & Metrics - Track and report key operational metrics including safety, quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and labor efficiency. Maintain accurate production records and documentation. Provide regular updates to the General Manager regarding operational performance and staffing needs.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience supervising production personnel and leading manufacturing teams.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, manufacturing processes, and operational workflows.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 environments.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and ERP/MRP systems.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and priorities.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 due to ITAR requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electronics, ceramics, aerospace, defense, or related manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with capacitor manufacturing or electronic component production.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Primarily based on the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment, powders, chemicals, kilns, electronic test equipment, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to use required PPE including safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves..
