Intern: Manufacturing & Test Engineering
Description

AEM (Advanced Environmental Monitoring) is the global leader in innovative mission critical weather, wildfire and water monitoring and intelligence solutions. We aim to be the world’s essential source for environmental insights – enabling decisive action and positive outcomes for our customers and their constituents. Our family of innovators offers world-class hydrometeorological technologies and services, including sensors, dataloggers, telemetry, and advanced analytics and software. Our technology and services empower the communities and organizations to survive – and thrive – in the face of escalating environmental risks.

This is a hands-on engineering internship for a student who wants to work on real manufacturing problems, not training exercises. You will report to the Director of Hardware Engineering, contributing directly to projects that improve how we build, test, and analyze the performance of our products.

The work sits at the intersection of electronics manufacturing, test systems, and data analysis — with a forward-looking emphasis on how AI tools are changing the way engineers diagnose and solve production problems. This internship is structured as a pipeline to a full-time Manufacturing or Test Engineering role for candidates who perform well.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Integrating production test equipment with our manufacturing data platform to enable real-time yield tracking and test analytics.
  • Using AI-assisted tools to accelerate root cause analysis on test failures and recurring production defects.
  • Supporting test fixture setup, qualification, and maintenance alongside the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Analyzing test and production data to identify yield loss contributors and support structured improvement projects.
  • Contributing to process documentation, work instructions, and engineering change implementation.

This job description may not be inclusive of all assigned duties, responsibilities, or aspects of the job described, and may be amended at any time at the sole discretion of the Employer.

  • Practical experience with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or equivalent) applied to technical or analytical tasks.
  • Self-directed; comfortable taking ownership of a task and asking the right questions to move it forward

Preferred Experience:

  • Coursework or project experience in manufacturing, quality, or instrumentation.
  • Exposure to automated test environments (LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar).
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools in an engineering, coursework, or project context.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization in Python or Excel.
  • Understanding of Process Control
