Description

Position Summary

The responsibilities of the mitigation technician include assessing damaged properties to see what can be saved, cleaning damaged properties, removing, and replacing damaged materials, and sanitizing the restored sites. To be successful as a mitigation technician, the employee must be physically capable, have a keen understanding of safety gear, and be able to follow instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform water mitigation, fire/smoke cleanup, mold remediation, and demolition services in accordance with company procedures and IICRC industry standards under the direction of the Mitigation Manager.
  • Assess damaged areas and assist in determining the scope of work, including identifying salvageable and non-salvageable materials.
  • Set up, monitor, and remove drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and moisture monitoring devices.
  • Perform extraction, debris removal, demolition, cleaning, sanitizing, and contents handling activities as required to stabilize and restore properties.
  • Document job progress through photos, moisture readings, sketches, and daily job notes using company-approved systems and software.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding project status, job expectations, and daily activities while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard communication, and safe equipment operation practices.
  • Drive and operate company vehicles, trailers, and restoration equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
  • Reachable by phone during waiting to be engaged periods, but otherwise free to use your time for personal activities unless contacted to report for duty. 
  • Assist with containment setup, negative air systems, and site protection measures to prevent cross-contamination during mitigation activities.
  • Load, unload, inventory, and transport equipment, materials, and contents between job sites, warehouses, and storage facilities.
  • Support warehouse organization, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep as needed.
  • Participate in required training, certification programs, safety meetings, and continuing education activities.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, subcontractors, and other departments to ensure projects are completed efficiently and according to quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business operations and customer needs.

Requirements

Experience/Education/Qualifications

  • 1 or more of IICRC Restoration Certifications (WRT, ASD, FSRT, etc.) preferred.
  • 2 or more years as an experienced Restoration Technician preferred.
  • 1-2 years of general work experience.
  • The ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Valid Driver’s license in good standing without restrictions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, materials, and debris weighing up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and other challenging environments.
  • Ability to work around water, mold, fire, smoke, and other property damage conditions while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to operate mitigation equipment and safely handle tools and materials used in restoration work.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and job-site environments.
  • Ability to travel to customer locations and respond to emergency service calls as needed.

Salary Description
$20-$25 per hour
