RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the Director of Discipleship in accomplishing the mission and vision of the parish Discipleship Department.
• Coordinate Vacation Bible School, including participant registration, volunteer recruitment, training, communication, and program accomplishment.
• Plan and implement family formation opportunities that encourage families to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
• Plan, coordinate, and accomplish ministry for 4th and 5th grade students through “The Bridge”.
• Assist with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd events, including parent meetings, Reconciliation Meditations, and Confirmation/First Eucharist retreats.
• Coordinate Youth OCIA and related sacramental preparation opportunities as assigned.
• Coordinate alternate at-home faith formation curriculum and support families participating in these programs.
• Recruit, train, support, and communicate with volunteers serving within assigned ministries and programs.
• Collaborate with parish staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and families to ensure programs are in keeping with the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church and effectively foster discipleship.
• Obtain and prepare materials and supplies as needed for programs, retreats, and events.
• Respond to emails, phone calls, and ministry inquiries in a timely manner.
• Any task deemed necessary by the Pastor and/or his delegate.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
• Work collaboratively with parish staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, school staff, and families.
• Attend Discipleship Department meetings and staff meetings.
• Coordinate registration, communication, and follow-up for assigned programs and events.
• Maintain records, forms, and participant information in accordance with parish and diocesan policies.
• Assist with the promotion and communication of discipleship opportunities through parish communication channels.
• Collaborate with the Strategic Marketing Specialist to communicate ministry opportunities, registration dates, events, retreats, and family formation initiatives to the parish community.
• Coordinate logistical needs for retreats, events, and ministry gatherings, including facilities, supplies, volunteers, and hospitality.
• Ensure all volunteers comply with diocesan Safe Environment requirements.
• Maintain an organized inventory of ministry materials and supplies.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
• Active member of a Roman Catholic Parish and in good standing with the Church.
• Must be willing and able to support the mission of the Church, the Pastor, the Parish, and the Diocese of Phoenix.
• Possess strong knowledge of Catholic teaching and practice.
• Experience in ministry leadership, catechesis, faith formation, event planning, or volunteer coordination preferred.
• Ability to recruit, train, and support volunteers and ministry leaders.
• Must be a self-starter who is able to take initiative in fulfilling tasks; is organized; can work independently as well as in a team; make sound judgments; and communicate effectively.
• Public speaking experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and parish database systems.
• Willing to work evenings as weekends with a varied schedule.
