Powder Coating Systems is seeking to hire a Day Shift Sand Blaster

This is a full-time position. The shift for this position is Monday through Friday from 5AM to 1:30PM. 

This position is very physical, requiring constant standing, bending, and lifting up to fifty pounds. 

The best candidates for this position are people who can work alone 80-90% of the time, who are mechanically minded, and who can handle working in a booth regardless of weather conditions. 

This position requires wearing Steel/composite toe footwear as well as long sleeves to help protect the user. The Company will provide a helmet with hood to supply air during the operation as well as Hearing Protection and Rubber gloves.  

Upon hire, the employee will be required to complete an OSHA questionnaire to be cleared to use our hoods for blasting. 


Sand Blasters are responsible for: 

-Determining jobs to process using an Excel Spreadsheet. 

-Moving the job to their booth. 

-Inventory of the job to determine that we have all the parts required. 

-Masking off all threaded holes and studs to prevent damage to the threads. 

-Using the machine to take off the outer surface of the parts (patina) without damaging the parts. 

-Tagging the completed parts and moving them to allow the Floor team to continue to process them. 

-Using a Tablet to track the parts from start to when it is completed through blast. 

-In times when there is nothing to blast, assisting the floor team in processing parts. 

-Cleaning up their booth daily after use prior to the next shift. 

-Other tasks as deemed necessary by their Supervisor, Operations Manager or Owner. 


Starting pay for this position is $18-20 per hour depending on experience. 

Employees who work for use after three months will receive: 

-Paid Time Off (PTO) which begins accruing from the first day of employment.

-Six paid holidays. 

-A Sales Based Production Bonus earned if the team achieves a certain productivity goal per month. (This bonus is accrued monthly, but paid quarterly. )

-Dental and other insurance benefits through Colonial Life. (Note: This does not include medical currently.)

 

Requirements

The following are mandatory requirements for this position and should be shown on the applicant's resume: 

-Applicant must be able to lift fifty pounds. (We do have two forklifts, an indoor crane and other team members to assist with loads bigger than this.) 

-Applicants must have a good attendance record at their previous employers. 

-Applicants must have reliable transportation to commute to Tacoma daily. (Although Pierce Transit does operate near our shop, we require our employees to be on time on a daily basis.) 

-Applicants must have a current Driver's License. (This is for forklift certification.) 

-Applicants must be able to provide within the first two days of employment documentation to 1.) prove their identity and 2.) establish their right to work in the United States. (The I-9 requires that we must see the originals of the forms and not copies. Any questions regarding this can be asked during the interview.) 


The following would be helpful: 

-Experience with sandblasting. 

-Experience using air tools, power tools, and the operation of a sit-down forklift. 

-The ability to be mechanically minded to handle operator level maintenance on their booth.

-A driven individual who wants to get the job done.
